PFLAG Norman is looking for our next President a passionate, community minded individual who’s ready to make a real difference in the lives of LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies across Norman, Midwest City, and surrounding areas.
Do you (or someone you know) care deeply about uplifting the LGBTQIA+ community? Are you ready to take on a leadership role and help shape the future of our organization?
We’re offering a one-year training period, leading up to officially stepping into the role as soon as possible and President role by October 1st, 2027. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn, lead, and grow within a supportive and affirming environment.

Advocacy - Outreach Coordinator
Katie (She, her )
Starting her New Officer roll.
Katie returned to PFLAG Norman in June of 2026. She is excited to return to advocacy work, and passionate about the work PFLAG is doing. With a degree in communication, she is happy to be able to use her skills to help others in our community. Katie is the proud parent of one (newly) adult child, as well as 3 cats and 1 dog. She is an avid reader, a gamer, and a lover of all things Disney.

Mark (he, him)
Mark joined the board in April 2023 and has enjoyed every minute of it. Being able to volunteer at multiple events and engaging with the community is what has drawn him to be apart of PFLAG. He moved from California in September of 2022 and just started work with Paycom. He is a huge Disney and Marvel fan and is the dad of a cat.
Secretary
Ava (she, her)
Ava joined the board in August 2022. She has lived in Norman since 2010. She identifies as a woman and has been working towards her personal transition goals since moving here. She is an avid reader, lover of history, and self proclaimed nerd. Her hobbies include outdoor activities such as hiking, climbing, and camping.
Advocacy - Policy Coordinator
Aysha (she, her)
Aysha joined the board in October 2023. She is the mother of two almost-grown sons. Aysha is an entomologist by training and a fan of all creepy-crawlies. She keeps chickens, goats, dogs, cats, and an enormous vegetable garden.
Her experience and passion for equity, equality and inclusion is a huge asset for our organization. She is well informed on local and state policies, voting information and pro and anti-LGBTQ+ bills that are in the Oklahoma legislation.

Nic (she, her, they)
Nic joined the board in October 2023. She has been excited to get involved with the community in real life since social media has been her means of connection and involvement being a mom to two younger kids. She identifies as a polyamorous lesbian who is all about building meaningful connections with others, bringing love and positivity to a hurting world, and empowering women to see their self worth. She spends her free time exploring life with her kids and making beef jerky.

Christie (She, her )
Christie has been a PFLAG Norman member of the board as part of the Midwest City satellite chapter starting in September 2025. She is the mother of 3, a grandmother, an educator, and an ally. Christie is an aspiring advocate for public education and for LGBTQIA+ rights. She enjoys traveling, gardening, crafting, and Thunder basketball. She lives in Choctaw with her partner and their 2 pups, Max and Buttercup.

Mari (She, her )
Mari joined the PFLAG Norman board in September 2025 as part of the Midwest City satellite chapter. She’s the parent of 2 adult sons (one gay, one trans) and an Ally in the community, inspired by them. Mari lives in Choctaw with her husband and when she’s not working or advocating, you can find her running (slowly), crocheting (all the things), reading (avidly), listening to punk (loudly), and being distracted by shiny things.

Mikki (She, her )
Our New Board Member
1st Term on Oct 1st 2026
Mikki joined the board in 2026, living in Norman since 2024. She is an avid video game nerd, whether it be retro or modern, and can commonly be found online playing Overwatch and Rocket League. She is a strong advocate for communication and understanding for LBGTQ+ community members and has worked to bring awareness to our communities’ wins and issues.

Our New Board Member

Emily Garman is a communications strategist, nonprofit leader, educator, and community volunteer with experience in marketing, digital strategy, public relations, fundraising communications, content development, and professional training.
She currently leads content and communications for an early childhood education publisher, overseeing editorial strategy, social media, email, video, webinars, and a podcast she created and produces.
Emily has worked with mission-driven organizations, helping them use communications, technology, storytelling, and education to connect with their communities and advance their missions. She has also served as a school PTO President and helped develop garden and environmental education programs for children.
She is an Oklahoma State University Extension certified Master Gardener with more than eight years of experience in garden-based education. Emily holds a B.A. with distinction from the University of Oklahoma in Communications/Electronic Media, with minors in English and Anthropology.

Our New Board Member
Seth joined the board in October 2026, he is a proud trans man. They have a passion for helping, advocating, and supporting the community. Seth is currently going to school to be a social worker and wants to become a counselor to help queer youth. Seth has two dogs and two cats. They enjoy spending time listening to music, going to events, and spending time with his husband . His favorite thing to do is meet new people and hear their stories.

Megan(She, her )
Our New Board Member
Megan is a new board member as of October 2026. She is a lifelong ally but just beginning her activism. As a high school teacher, she is passionate about teens and young adults exploring their identities and true selves. Megan was raised in Midwest City and other than a ten year stint in Texas, has lived here her whole life. She is mother to three fur babies and loves crocheting baby blankets for all the young mothers around her.
